Vortex Flow Sensors Overview


Vortex flow sensors are flow measurement devices based on the Kármán vortex street effect. When a fluid flows past a non-streamlined object (vortex generator), vortices are alternately generated downstream. The frequency of these vortices is proportional to the flow rate of the fluid, allowing accurate determination of the fluid flow rate by measuring the vortex frequency.


Vortex flow sensors have simple structures, no moving parts, a wide measurement range, low pressure loss, and high reliability, making them widely used in various industries.

Limitations of Electromagnetic Flow Meters


In applications such as semiconductor factories, where a large amount of industrial pure water is required, accurate flow measurement is crucial. While electromagnetic flow meters perform well in conductive fluids, they fall short for low-conductivity fluids like industrial pure water. Treated industrial pure water has very low conductivity due to the removal of most ions, making it difficult for electromagnetic flow meters to generate sufficient electromotive force, leading to unstable and inaccurate measurements.
